krikes!

This cracked me up, thanks Eric Mathew for the tip!

Plus, if you are a Broadway lovah and haven’t seen Legally Brown yet, prepare to pee your pants just a little.

right in this moment

I love that the clip below is finally on youtube.

Come back when I do the Radio City Christmas show, I’ll be needing a dancing elf.

This clip always makes me smile and psychs me up for an audition. :)  Me favorite Chenoweth plus hey!  I was a dancing elf.  I have a big next week ahead of me in that realm and a fun weekend down in Portland this weekend!  Today at work, my assistant came down with a cold so I turned my normal routine of 25 handwashes a day (hey, it makes sense when carrying for 13 germs preschoolers) to 50 handwashes and 15 Purell dollops.  Can’t get sick, can’t get sick, can’t get sick.

Also, feel free to follow me on the newest internet craze…Twitter!!!

shrek…II

The Variety critique of Shrek the Musical Pre-Broadway is in.  I pretty much agree.  My original critique found here.  And yes, I bought my tickets for Broadway’s First National Tour of Spring Awakening next month in Seattle and I can’t wait! :)

  • Sutton was fierce and probably too good for it.  That sounds mean but isn’t she like beyond some movie-remake?
  • They have a ton of Broadway stars in it, especially stars who’ve worked together before.  Reiterates the small worldness of Broadway.  The cast was very, very talented with what they had been given.
  • I think some numbers were rad, but generally the storyline at times felt overplayed and it seems like the Disney/Pixar musical movie remakes aren’t ever quite as rich as an original Broadway production.  It wasn’t dazzling, the story didn’t captivate me, mostly because I’VE ALREADY SEEN IT IN A MOVIE.  Some of the numbers made me want to get on stage and join in, a lot of other numbers were tired.
  • Relating to bullet above, being a Broadway superfan and Seattleite that gets very little Broadway, I’d think I’m an easy audience member to woo.  I wasn’t wooed.
  • Why did Shrek and Donkey mimic the Meyers/Murphy accents?  They literally used the same type of speaking voice.  Don’t copy two comedic geniuses, I humbly say.
  • Did I mention Sutton was fierce?  I am also pretty impressed with the career and work of John Tartaglia.

if the sky is heaven

I don’t know if the sky is heaven but I pray anyways.

-Idina Menzel, “I Stand”

While Jesus means something to me, I want to know why people of inter-faith have been so much kinder to me than 90% of Christians.  Maybe their kindness is more genuine and less saccharine, or maybe I just offend a lot of Christians without meaning to.  Again…without meaning to offend, I humbly ask why so many Christians have to be so damn smug?  Sure it’s not just “them” and I fall into that category too, but I’m still thinking that I like the idea of hoping for universalism in the end.  :)

Here’s a few thoughts that I’m currently stewing on:

  • Isn’t it more life-giving and Jesus-affirming to hope that universalism is true rather than hoping in hell?
  • Can’t one believe in the person of Jesus Christ and think his personhood could extend to “save all” even without their acknowledgment of him?  If Jesus really is God, isn’t Jesus bigger than the Westernized Christianity we have been brought up with?  I heard this quote recently and I really found it interesting, God has no religion.
  • If God is who some say God is, wouldn’t a loving God extend grace even to those who do not profess faith?  I would, and I’m not very loving, so if God is love, isn’t that possible?  For example, say there is a fire at the school I work at.  I’m going to do my best to get every three year old in my care out of the burning building whether or not they think I’m cool or idolize me.  Even if I know for fact they don’t like me very much.  I’m still going to recognize that they are freaking only 3 years old and extend to them every benefit-of-the-doubt and do everything I can to show them I care.  So doesn’t God realize we are pretty much “spiritual babies” and cut us a break too?
  • If all truth is God’s truth and all love is God’s love is all faith God’s faith and so on?  I think the whole believing in a God part is easy, it’s the believing in the church stuff that’s hard for me.  So if I’m only 6% loving and God is INFINITY loving, wouldn’t God just give a lot of people a break?  I mean organized religion as man has created it has messed a lot of people up, if I know that I’d think God knows that exponentially more?
  • And again, why have people of multi/interfaith showed me so much more of who Christ is than most people who “believe exclusively in Jesus”?

I should probably crack a Bible open since I have no clue what Christians would say to half these questions, but I’d also like to know what everybody else is saying.  Because hoping for universalism isn’t so bad, right?  For now, God has no religion. :)

target lady meets wicked meets flat lbb

only about 2% of you will get this, but those who do might love it.  if you did radio city with me, are named josh lamon or eric mathew, or i visited you in new york, i think you will’s laugh at this :)

because i heart kristen wiig and wicked.

i think this girl is funny.

i can’t look away

utterly ridic, i know.  stacey, liz, stefan, nikki, eric–thoughts?  help.  i can’t look away.  stacey and i saw the show when i was in new york and i must admit i liked it better on mtv than live.  there were some busted moments.  but i really like the music of this show as in it’s a great workout mix.

and yet the whole reality tv search for elle, is kind of wa-waaaaa.  maybe it’s genius and i’m just mad i didn’t think of it first.  or maybe it’s a trainwreck like the hills but everyone will still watch.  who knows yet.

you’re dancing with your mouth open.  watch it.

-jerry mitchell

regardless, i cannot look away.

all hail jerry mitchell

so i’m over here at la casa de brann’s (i so took french so forgives!) enjoying my weekend dose of pop-culture to the max.  right now i only have 2 channels, so i am beyond enjoying the brann’s cable + dvr.  and i have to say that jerry mitchell is beyond presh in the show step it up and dance.  he is a broadway legend and a genius.  while it probably won’t be on broadway since i don’t really sing or dance, i would be a-maz-ing to either meet or work with him someday.

i’m now passing this over to my fellow pop-culture maven/broadway lovah – eric ‘you better live’ mathew for his two cents… comment e.

Just a little blog snaps for Matt Gibson who opened to rave reviews in Broadway’s revival of Gypsy last night.  Find out more information here and here.

Matt is seriously one of the nicest people you will ever meet and completely reminds me of an older version of my little brother.
