Surprise, surprise, mine was a mix of Hollywood Couture…

“Welcome to Hollywood! What’s your dream?” That’s right, its time to roll out the red carpet and get ready for the sparkle of crystal and all things flashy that make up the Hollywood Couture style. Hollywood Couture style originated in high-end lifestyles that made up the years between the roaring 20’s and the swinging 40’s where it was important to bring a feeling of glamour to the home when the world outside may have lacked it. Nowadays it’s scratching a similar itch in the sense that it’s bringing a sense of opulence to a world that seems to have forgotten how much fun it can be! The great thing about the updated version of the style is how versatile it is. You can really take it in any direction and add almost any style into the mix, perhaps a contemporary leather sofa paired with lacquered Louis XIV chairs that have been upholstered in lush velvet. The key is that each item feels as rich and over-the-top as possible and yet everything still seems livable. It’s not a space that screams: “do not touch” – rather it almost dares you to experience its luxury.

Parlez-vous français? Even if the answer is no, you can confidently say your home does! French Country, like its name, somehow manages to both be formal and casual, classy and unassuming at the same time. You like your spaces to feel inviting from the moment you (or your guest) opens the front door and this feeling should continue even after you’ve entered your most formal room. Even though there are French antiques here and gold details there, the rustic elements provide a balance and warmth that seems to say, “come in, relax and stay a while.” Your love of antiques leads you to flea markets, garage sales and hours of eBay hunting.

so if my new friends nina and ryan don’t make you wanna move to LA i don’t know what will.  seriously. um today was a flippin’ fabulous thanksgiving eve day!  my bosses are fantastic and gave us a 5 day weekend and so i finally explored more parts of la LA land.  i explored silver lake and los feliz and glendale and somewhere by forest lawn grove and all sorts of ten freeway shenanigans.  lurvvvvely.  and i FINALLY visited homecshop with friend nina.  throughout my day-off-t0-end-all-days-off i got everything i need to have a happy homemade kitschy christmas…i’m talking i am ready to felt and jewel and embroider and flock and cupcake-bake and all the pompoms and kitsy-kaboodles are sprawled all over my bed.

OH!  how could i forget–i visited my first 99CENTS store too which i will now call magic land of eternal chotchkies!. i can’t even begin to describe all the treasures i found and OH WAIT i will tomorrow!  on! a! video! blog!  soooo many treats i cannot even wait to bestow on my unlucky friends and family!

and have i mentioned lately how badly i would like to get some kitschy minx?  (‘cuz is halloween and this shiz scurrry).

and yes, pro-est of all nails i do bow to thee in respect.

AND FINALLY, YES I AM STILL DROOOOLING OVER TARINA TARANTINO‘S STURFF.

She has been my favorite jewelry designer for some time now.  (although there will always be a place of amazingness for jennifer behr’s headbands) and i am going gaga for headbands right now–total headband phase–i think i have about 9 now (the wrap-around kind).  also been scouting for my perfect, 80’s vintage plastic charm necklace on ebay.  remember those?  wish i’d saved my neon yellow one from childhood which charms like sunglasses, a hot dog, an ice cream cone, toothpaste, record, all sorts of crazy fun.  also gaga for gaga’s bad romance video.  can’t watch it enough.

Hi.  I did this video blog a couple weeks ago and it has taken me a bit to post it.  It’s such a topic close to my heart that I wanted to make sure it was just right before I shared it with you.  If I am anything, I must be honest, both with my successes and my failures, my strengths and my growth edges.  I am human.  This is just the first reflection of several.

Yes, I did Katy Perry’s Birthday Party as “dwarf entertainment”–with Taylor Swift, Perez Hilton and Julianne Hough.  I have to be honest.  Please leave me a comment–I would love to know what you think, if you have an idea for something else you want me to talk about, etc.

i hostessed at katy perry’s 25th birthday tonight.  it was a pretty crazy, kaleidoscopic, fun, brightly colored bash.  a regular hollywood soiree.  taylor swift, julianne hough, perez hilton, jonny makeup – lots of famous faces were there.  grateful for a new opportunity to learn and grow – and be reminded of what really matters. the people in my life are what matters, they are my heart and without them i would be lost.  a few names especially come to mind–stacey, arthur, sara m., bonnie, jack, claire, renessa, debbie u., mama dana, johanna, shari, just a few of the people who have known me and know my heart and what i am made of.  a couple of them are new friends, yes, but friends who hold and carry pieces of my core.  hollywood may allure and twinkle, but my own reflection is what i have to live with.  i am reminded of the message i want my life to reflect.  a life loving people–i hope those in my life know how much i love them.  i hope my disposition reflects joy and love to strangers. i am reminded of my family and those who hold powerful stories.  of the children i nannied and mentor and love.  and i am reminded of greater issues.  of greater battles that are being fought.  of kate.

i have been waiting and waiting for this clip to make it to youtube.  thank you to new friend paolo presta for sending it to me. as weird as it sounds, i get a lot of truth from grey’s anatomy.  god nudgings if you will.  this one hit me like a ton of bricks. without further adieu, let’s just get to the point.  first the clip, then my video response…
