fashion smashion V

this week… FASHION SMASHION PRESENTS ‘SHAMELESS THINGS I REALLY, REALLY WANT’.  :)

usually my weekly fashion smashion posts are much more about channeling my inner rachel zoe and styling someone else or an alter ego.  this week…not so much.  these items…in the words of zoe, “I DIE.”  it all started when i saw this modcloth cassiopeia blue dress recently.  i really want to wear it for christmas, or even the bel air benefit…and i still do. size small, check, add to cart, no be good, remove from cart…i still don’t know…gonna give it another week to mull over.   i’d hem it a bit so it was shorter and more shift-y on me.

staring at it on polyvore isn’t helping.  also staring at gray patent leather bag (no, not $$chanel$$…that isn’t even a consideration).  studded vest.  not the $5,000 one shown, but you get the idea.  free people white gold sequined slip to layer with.  i have been staring at that free people slip for months now, ever since i saw it i wanted to put a vest over it.  blah blah blah.

especially now that i’m sick in bed with no voice…fashion smashion is getting the best of me.

sleeping to dream

i worked a lot this week.  i worked hard. i am exhausted. back to school night and general hustling to make things happen in LA kicked my bootay.  i have very few plans this weekend beyond catching up on  my dvr and getting ready to see my friend nikki james perform at musical mondays this coming week.  i’m so grateful she’s in LA for another month because i’ve gotten to spend a lot of time with her!

but my friend sara, had an even crazier week it sounds like.  i’m so behind on catching up on friends’ lives this week that i just finally got to see this.  miley cyrus has the flu or strep throat or something and sara was her standby that’s for sure!  wow.  now that is called professional! i am so proud to be her friend–a friend that can jump in and cover on a dime!  that takes talent.

my dear, dear friend stacey is getting ready for another season as a Radio City Rockette–this year in NYC!  I am so excited for her as well.  and my brother peet is going to be shooting wipeout in a month.  snaps!  hoping for my own excitement soon, but so proud of him!!

if i were to style a celebrity kid–here are some notes i’ve been taking from my own spotlighted preschoolers up in the hills…none of this is preschool appropro but since i enjoy styling, these are photo-shoot ready.

this week… FASHION SMASHION PRESENTS ‘MOMMY DEAREST’.

ok, so i just started teaching at a private school up in the hills and in just a few weeks have already seen quite the collection of ‘motherly fashion’.  the ones i give props to are effortless chic rather than the ‘i got up at 4 to pull this off’ or ‘i’m trying to look like my husband’s 8th grade daughter from a previous marriage’.  mommy clothes don’t have to be from coldwater creek but i appreciate those who look pulled together but not trying too hard, stylish without being trendy and easy to wear.  for goodness sakes you have a 3 year old, don’t look like you need to be plastic wrapped to be accessible.

so needed a laugh today after a 13 hour work day…thanks eric mathew!  can’t wait to slow down for a few minutes so i can tell you about the rock’n show and see it again! :)

what’s not to love about the nines in portland?  i stayed there this weekend and the service was wonderful.  they even had these betsey-johnson-esque jewels in the lobby that were so cool.  it was impeccably styled.  we went to breakfast in their restaurant on the 8th floor called “urban farmer” and i probably had the best homemade english muffin with huckleberry jam that i’ve ever had and the best omelette as well.

quick & dirty update

• grey’s anatomy starts again soon!  yayyy!
• saw the miley cyrus full dress rehearsal to cheer on my friend sara mann.  it was ah-mazin’…she rocked it.  go sara. more later after the show officially opens tonight and i am at liberty to talk about how cool it was.  i can’t wait to see it again.
• been busy preparing for the bebes to come back to preschool tomorrow in bel air.
• auditioning!
• travelled to phoenix and portland.  lpa regional and roloff charity benefit.

i will post an updated fashion smashion sunday soon but lately it’s been work just to get 8 hours of sleep!
